Mr. Bojangles is a 26 year old Welsh pony. Chronic, severe founder and starvation.
We are told he foundered 15 years ago. We don’t know much about his history, but we do know he was left to die, on his own, an excruciatingly painful death.
We are grateful that someone finally called Animal Control and they called us.
We will do everything in our power to help him and make sure that for whatever time he has left, he will know he is safe and loved.
Recovery efforts begin
About a week later, this little miracle boy was starting to feel better. In large part due to the wonderful foster family caring for, and loving him every day.
His feet have been trimmed a little at a time so as to not over stress the rest of his body that has adapted to the posture of extreme pain he has been in for years.
In addition to a careful re-feeding diet for starvation cases, we started daily red light therapy on his back and his feet using the products from https://equinelighttherapy.com/and we HIGHLY recommend both the company and the products!
This is at 6 weeks.
He has been on our re-feeding program for starvation cases and he is feeling better and better, starting to put on weight very slowly – which is
necessary for successful nutritional recovery.
He is standing straighter and more comfortably. He laying down less often and moving all over his enclosure (about 1/3 acre). It turns our, little man has some sass! He gets fed multiple small meals each day and he has become quite vocal and pushy when it arrives. That’s okay little buddy, we understand, but don’t worry, you’ll never be hungry again!
He is far from out of the woods. He has a long way to go and we don’t know if he will get there…but as long as he is going in a good direction, we
will be there to support him.

Miracle Pony
It is remarkable how well this little man is doing. The magnitude doesn’t really hit until you see it side by side. With the extent of damage he has, for as long as he has, and at his age…this shouldn’t be. But there it is! He has the BEST foster mom and family we could have ever hoped for. THIS is what love can do!
